How Does Brainspotting Therapy Work?

As a Brainspotting Therapist I help you focus on an issue as I move a pointer that you’ll follow with your eyes until you sense a reaction. I’ll then hold the pointer at your reaction spot where you’ll maintain your focus – and that’s it! You don’t have to do anything! What follows is an unforced sensory experience of emotional memories getting unstuck in your body and brain. Brainspotting is best used for Little T Trauma and Relationship Anxiety and involves some things similar to EMDR like locating bodily sensations connected to the issue your processing and replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. Except in Brainspotting you process your sensations and memories while your eyes remain focused on a single activating spot rather then using rapid eye movements like in EMDR.

So how does your own self-healing happen without forcing it? If you broke your leg would you have to tell it how to heal? NO! Your leg will heal on its own. All you’d need to do is go to the doctor and get it cast. Well Brainspotting is like the cast. It’s simply a micro focusing technique supporting your internal healing process. It’ll get you out of your thinking brain because we don’t want to analyze to heal. We analyze to buy a house or a car. We go within to heal and restore.
